Hi there, didn't hear you come in!

Who I am?

I'm going by florgoth, nice t'meetcha (or see you again)!

For the purpose of my online presence, I'm a lover of music; especially of new music by indie artists. While I'm always on the lookout for new things to enjoy for myself, I have also found out in the last 2 years that I enjoy writing about the things I've listened to. I don't intend to do this professionally and I'm not really taking listening requests; my aim is to share what I think is exceptional and what excites me.

So, why did I start a blog?

For one, sometimes I need a place for more long-form content. I usually enjoy the quick and dirty post about an album, but sometimes the 300 character limit on BlueSky is a bit... well, limiting.

Also, a single place to put resources I'm aware of, that can help artist find their audience, could come in handy from time to time! In the past few years, a few of us have created something of an infrastructure to help listeners discover quality music from indie artists, and also ways for said artists to find their peers and share information. It's my firm belief, that these resources should be open and available for every artist, regardless of experience or genre and I'm very lucky that I've found some likeminded folks in that regard.

Cool, so I'm posting these things regularily, right?

Nope, sorry! My time and mental capacity is limited and I already have a pretty full plate, so I'm getting to things as I get to them; not earlier, but not later either.

Until I figure out how I want to do this, here are a few things you can have a look at right now:

There's https://untidyradio.com/ by my friend @untidymusic.com, an online radio station that mostly plays music from the artists on BlueSky.

@etherdiver.bsky.social runs the super helpful https://www.etherdiver.com/category/other-peoples-music/ , a blog were musicians can send in their works for reviews.

And then there's me: I'm maintaining a collection of starter packs with as many musicians as I can find and I'm collecting the upcoming singles, albums, listening parties and online concerts of said artists and post them in my release overview every Sunday evening. You can find all of that on my profile @florgoth.bsky.social

We'll see how this goes and if there's any interest at all. Until then, stay safe, stay sane, always keep going and enjoy the music!
